Learn to create beautiful designs on paper by printing with a gel plate and acrylic paint. Mixed media artist Catherine Cruz will teach you the basic skills for using this fun tool from printing textural backgrounds, to layering colors, and creating unusual designs. You will take home many prints that can be used for designing collage, mixed media art or greeting cards. This class is suitable for anyone wanting to learn this unique mono printing style and perfect for beginners.
What you’ll get from this workshop:
· Methods for applying paint and pulling successful prints
· Techniques for creating unique and intricate layered designs
· Creative use of mark-making tools and masks
· Strategies for combining techniques
All materials are provided: Gel plate, brayer roller, acrylic paint, stencils, mark-making tools, paper.
A variety of papers will be provided but you are highly encouraged to bring your own papers to experiment on. Examples of suitable papers include tissue paper, Japanese rice papers, caligraphy paper, recycled book pages, basically anything that is porous and absorbent.
Class will beginwith a demonstration so please arrive a few minutes early to get set up so we can start on time. We will take a short break for lunch between 12:30 and 1:00 pm so kindly bring your lunch and a beverage.
Note: magazine image transfer is not included in this class.
